Special Issue Introduction
The Internet of Things(IoT) has been widely used in various fields, such as IoV, IIoT, smart city, smart healthcare, etc. The realization of the Internet of Things (IoT) can obtain information hidden in vast and growing seas of available data. For different application scenarios, there are diversified communication protocols, frameworks, and interfaces in the IoT. The user can determine the appropriate software and hardware requirements according to the demand environment. In addition, the combination of the IoT and AI can increase the value of the data collected by the IoT devices and assist users in making some corresponding decisions. The development of diversified hardware and software does provide users with great flexibility, but it has also led to many security and privacy issues. As an example, for the IIoT, when the system is attacked, it is easy to cause data leakage or cause network paralysis; for smart Healthcare applications, how to ensure that AI-assisted methods will not leak any patient information? In order to achieve this goal, the security management system of the Internet of Things and AI applications needs to overcome the ever-changing network security threats to prevent network attacks, intrusions, malware, and various types of data leakage to the greatest extent. This Special Issue of Journal of Surveillance, Security, and Safety aims to research the state-of-the-art developments, conceptual, theory, design, implementation, operation, and evaluation for Security and Privacy in AI and IoT applications. Authors are invited to submit original practical work and survey papers.
Areas of interest for this special journal issue include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
• AI-based security tools, techniques, and procedures for IoT
• Attack identification and adversarial defense methods in IoT
• Advanced AI techniques to secure future IoT architectures/protocols
• Applications of AI technologies for enhancing security and privacy
• Cyber security for future IoT Technology
• Privacy issues in AI
• Security and privacy protection for AI on mobile devices
