Special Issue Introduction
Big data brings the promise of new insights and efficiencies in various applications. However, the security and privacy concerns related to big data processing threaten to slow down the adoption of big data analytics. The recent scandal involving Cambridge Analytica offers insights into the dark side of big data and illustrated the risks of exposing information. In an era of big data, security and privacy concerns have been growing in a wide range of domains, including industrial, medical and public health, government, and business. These concerns lie in different stages of data processing, ranging from data collection and communication to storage, analytics and consumption of data. This JSSS special issue aims to provide a platform for researchers to present the state-of-the-art technologies addressing the security and privacy concerns and challenges that arise from the big data properties such as volume, velocity, variety, veracity, and their combinations. We welcome articles on big data security and privacy.
