Congratulations to 5 Editorial Board Members of Journal of Surveillance, Security and Safety on Being Listed in  “Highly Cited Researchers 2020” by Clarivate Analytics!

On November 18, 2020, Clarivate Analytics released the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2020 (HCR)”, with over 6000 researchers around the world in various fields on the list. The list aims at identifying researchers around the world who have demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Scientists whose publications rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index were recognized.

A total of 124 researchers were included in the list in Computer Science, with 46 from Chinese mainland China, 12 from the United States, and 11 from Australia. Congratulations to these researchers.

We are delighted and honored to announce that five Editorial Board members of Journal of Surveillance, Security and Safety (JSSS) were on the list, including Professor Xiaofeng Chen from Xidian University, Professor Debiao He from Wuhan University, Professor Jian Shen from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Professor Athanasios V. Vasilakos from the University of Technology Sydney and Professor Sherali Zeadally from the University of Kentucky. We would like to take this opportunity to thanks all of them for contributing to computer science, as well as our journal construction. Special thanks are extended to our Co-Editor-in-Chief Professor Xiaofeng Chen for his contribution.

Professor Xiaofeng Chen
Research interest: Public key cryptography, Cloud computing security, Data security

Professor Xiaofeng Chen (H-index 52), an outstanding teacher in Internet Foundation Network Security, leader of Shaanxi cryptography teaching team. He is currently a leading professor in “Huashan Scholar Program” at Xidian University and deputy director of the Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research Algorithm Professional Committee. He is an Editorial Board member of IEEE TDSC, Journal of Cryptologic Research, etc., and once served as chairman in various international conferences such as AisaCCS 2016, and NSS 2014. He won the 2016 Cryptologic Innovation Award of China Cryptology Society, Shaanxi Youth Science and Technology Award, and the Second Prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education in 2019. Currently, his publications have got more than 10,000 citations on Google Scholar.


Professor Debiao He
Research interest: Cryptography, Blockchain security, Cloud computing security, Internet of things security

Professor Debiao He (H-index 49), is a Professor in School of Cyber Science and Engineer at Wuhan University. He won the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, was selected as Global Highly Cited Researchers 2019, and won the best paper award of international well-known journals such as IEEE Systems Journal and IET Information Security. He served as President of the Hubei Commercial Cryptography Association, Director of Cryptography Research Institute of Wuhan University, Deputy Director of China Cryptography Society Blockchain Special Committee, and Standing Member of China Computer Society Blockchain Professional Committee. He has published more than 100 papers on international well-known journals/conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, and USENIX Security. Currently, his publications have got more than 8000 citations on Google Scholar. He also presided over 20 research projects such as The General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, The Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation, and Sub-project of China National Key R&D Program.


Professor Jian Shen
Research interest: Cryptography, Public key cryptography, Data security

Professor Jian Shen, is a professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Academic Leader of Cloud Computing Security team at School of Computer and Software, Nanjing University of Information Technology, as well as the Vice President of Graduate School. Winning the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, he is IET Fellow, Expert Member of China Cryptography Society Security Agreement Committee, and Member of Jiangsu Computer Society Information Security Committee. He serves as the Editorial Board member and reviewer for various international journals and the chairman of the Procedure Committee of various international academic conferences. He has presided over 4 projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and published more than 30 high-level papers. He won various talent plans in Jiangsu Province, the First Prize of Jiangsu Province Graduate Education Reform Achievement Award, the Second and Third Prize of Jiangsu Province Education Science Research Achievement Award, best paper award of Journal JNCA 2019 and ACISP 2018, etc.


Distinguished Professor Athanasios V. Vasilakos
Research interest: Security and privacy, Cryptography, Economics of cybersecurity, Cryptocurrency protocol, Internet of things, Complex networks, Cloud computing, Big data, Machine learning, Biocomputing

Professor Athanasios V. Vasilakos (H-index 114) is a Distinguished Full Professor at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is honored to have been listed in “Highly Cited Researchers” for four consecutive years since 2017. He served or is serving as an Editor for many top technical journals, such as the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, the IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, the IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, the IEEE Transactions on Nanobioscience, the IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, the ACM Transactions on Autonomous and Adaptive Systems, and the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. He has published over 700 papers, with more than 45,000 citations. He has participated in the compilation of 9 books such as Introduction to Certificateless Cryptography and Digital Arts. He is currently an Editorial Board member of JSSS in OAE.


Associate Professor Sherali Zeadally
Research interest: Cybersecurity, Privacy, Internet of Things, Energy-efficient networking, Computer networks

Professor Sherali Zeadally (H-index 51) is an Associate Professor in the College of Communication and Information, University of Kentucky. He is a distinguished Speaker in ACM (2017-2020), and distinguished visitor in IEEE Computer Society (2019-2021), and won Albert D. & Elizabeth H. Kirwan Memorial Prize (2020). He won several best/outstanding paper awards in various international well-known journals such as IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE IT Professional Magazine, and Journal of Information and Telecommunication. He has published over 100 papers in international journals/conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, and Neural Computing and Applications. He has got more than 9,000 citations in Scopus. Besides, he is a member of the British Computer Society and the British Institute of Engineering Technology, and an Editorial Board member of JSSS currently.
